Scalpels & Blades

Research-based surgeries rely on the use of disposable or sterilizable scalpels to make clean incisions at the scalp or along the cervical plane for access to the local surgical field. Typically, a 10-15 blade mounted on a #3 handle are popular for both control and precision cuts on popular model organisms such as rodents.

Dumont Tweezers

Tweezers are often used in surgical settings for handling delicate tissues, fine positioning and manipulation, suture placement/removal, as well as for foot-pinching (testing pedal reflex) to ensure an animal is fully anesthetized before/throughout surgery.
