Kwik-Gard is specially packaged Sylgard184 silicone for quicker and easier application, eliminating the messy procedure of preparing the mixture before application. Its special cartridge controls the precise mixing ratio to ensure proper curing. The disposable tip mixes resin and hardener as they are dispensed. Since no air is introduced during mixing, the resin does not need degassing for most applications. The mixed silicone is applied directly to the site, reducing preparation time and material waste. Each Kwik-Gard cartridge contains 37 mL of resin and hardener. The dispensing tip has a dead volume of 0.75 mL.
2-part silicone elastomer, ideal for potting and encapsulating applications
This silicone elastomer has a very low dielectric constant sealing compound, which makes it ideal for patch clamping and many other lab applications, especially in electrophysiology applications.

Sylgard 184 silicone elastomer base and curing agent is supplied as a two part kit comprised of liquid components. When the base and the curing agent are thoroughly mixed in a 10:1 weight ration, the medium-viscosity liquid mixture has a consistency resembling SAE No. 40 motor oil. The liquid mixture will cure in thick or thin sections to a flexible, transparent elastomer ideally suited for electical/electronic potting and encapsulating applications.
Sylgard 184 silicone elastomer offers a flexible cure schedule from 25-150°C (77-302°F), without an exotherm. Sylgard 194 silicone elastomer requires no post cure and can be placed in service immediately following the completion of the cure schedule at an operating temperature from -55° to 200 °C. (-67 to 392°F).
Sylgard 184 silicone elastomer is especially useful for applications where clarity is desirable. For more information, please refer to the manual.
That means after curing time (24hrs@25 °C; or 15 min @ 150 °C), the mixed adhesive will reach its highest hardness and tensile strength. The professional boxers will generate punches around 800–1500 psi. It indicates how tough the cured adhesive can be.
In electrophysiological application (such as seal the glass tips around tissues/cells), such ultimate conditions are not concerned. As far as keeping high volume resistivity (electronically as insulator between the gap of glass electrode and tissues/cells), job will be well done.
NOTE: Due to supply constraint, this product is currently non-returnable/non-refundable. For details, please refer to the WPI Terms & Conditions.

The adhesive you select will depend largely on your biomedical research laboratory application. If you are building electrodes, you might use a silver-filled, conductive epoxy to connect a Ag/AgCl pellet. For instantaneous bonding when mounting a rodent brain slice, you might select an ethyl cyanoacrylate. When you are looking for a low toxicity adhesive with some elasticity and good moisture resistance, a silicone adhesive is the option of choice. When used with living tissue, an adhesive must be:
In any laboratory, having key lab supplies is almost as important as having the major equipment. Choosing a reputable supplier of these necessary supplies is as important as having quality laboratory supplies when you need them. WPI wants to be your partner in early drug discovery, and we stock a wide variety of lab supplies, many of which can ship the same business day. Having a variety of lab supplies ready to ship makes us a dependable research partner. Here are some of the popular supplies that we keep on hand to meet your needs for your upcoming experiment
