Swiss Microdissecting Forceps have fine tips for precision work in microsurgery, microdissection, and applications requiring fine manipulation of tissue or small objects under a microscope. The tips on WPI Microdissecting Forceps are fine and straight. These are hand forceps with a spring action letting you pinch the blades together to control the amount of pressure used. You have a choice of steel they are manufactured from, all of which are suitable for autoclaving or chemical sterilization. Surgical grade stainless steel is the standard alloy for surgical instruments. The acid-resistant, anti-magnetic alloy works well in an MRI environment. The Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum (Ni-Cr-Mo) super alloy is six times harder than antimagnetic stainless steel, resistant to fatigue with a very high shape retention, and fully non-magnetic. The Diamond Like Coating (DLC) has a black, non-reflective surface, is extremely high wear and abrasion resistant, chemically inert up to 350°C, and bio-compatible. DLC instrument last a long time. All of these surgical forceps are quality Swiss-made instruments.

The High-Tech DLC Coating is composed of carbon clusters which develop a crystal structure similar to a natural diamond and practically detain the same properties of the diamond. This high-tech coating is done by a very innovative plasma-assisted deposition technique. During this process a pure diamond film grows directly on the exposed surfaces of the metallic substrate (this is not diamond powder adhesively bonded on the metal surface).

When applied to surgical instruments, Diamond-Like Carbon coating dramatically increases the life of the instrument. Because DLC-coated surgical instruments are incredibly durable and resistant to wear from chemicals, moisture and atmospheric conditions, they have a much greater useful lifespan. According to the manufacturer, pure DLC coatings as thin a 2-3μm can increase the lifespan of a pair of Vannas scissors more than 100 times that of its uncoated counterpart.
