The sapphire has a hardness value of 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, slightly below the hardest mineral on earth, the diamond. The sapphire knife's ergonomic grip offers an easier grasp and is designed to be used with WPI's blades. The blade's chemical composition provides a durable edge that lasts longer than steel surgical instruments, saving costs for your practice. The blade's sharp point and transparent finish allows greater precision in hair restoration, ophthalmic microsurgery, or cosmetic procedures. Sapphire blades may be sterilized using any currently known procedure. The blades are corrosion free and resistant to saline solution.

Ultrasonic Cleaning
Using a sterilizing case with silicon inserts or mats to reduce vibration and protect the blade.
We recommend sterilizing the knives in trays with silicone inserts or silicone mats. This will prevent movement and avoid damaging the blade.

These sterilization cycles represent the industry standards and should be capable of producing a sterile device.
NOTE: Ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization is recommended for items that are heat or moisture sensitive, and is best suited for expensive medical equipment. ETO takes longer, between 3.5–16 hours to ensure sterilization. If time is not an factor, then ETO is an excellent sterilization method. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for your instruments.
