The Titanium Scalpel Handle is for use with our Sapphire Blades. The 501811 version is for use with the regular sapphire blades (504074, 504075, and 504168), and the 501812 version is for use with angled sapphire blades. Since sapphires are one of the hardest materials available (second only to diamonds), they make super sharp blades for precise, clean cuts. They are non-magnetic, especially when combined with a titanium handle. Sapphire blades are non-conductive, which may be important if you are using electrical instruments. Sapphire blades are impervious to corrosion and extremely durable. The sapphire blades are sold separately. These handles are retractable, so you can protect the blade when it is not in use. The reusable scalpel handle is 13 cm (5.1") long. They are constructed of titanium and are autoclavable or suitable for chemical sterilization.

Manual Cleaning
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Using a sterilizing case with silicon inserts or mats to reduce vibration and protect the blade.
We recommend sterilizing the knives in trays with silicone inserts or silicone mats. This will prevent movement and avoid damaging the blade.
| Sterilization Method | Type of Sterilization | Temperature | Exposure Time |
| Steam | Gravity Displacement | +132ºC (+270ºF) | 4 min |
| Flash Process | Gravity Displacement | +132ºC (+270ºF) | 4 min |
| Autoclave | Gravity Displacement | +132ºC (+270ºF) | 4 min |
These sterilization cycles represent the industry standards and should be capable of producing a sterile device.
NOTE: Ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization is recommended for items that are heat or moisture sensitive, and is best suited for expensive medical equipment. ETO takes longer, between 3.5–16 hours to ensure sterilization. If time is not an factor, then ETO is an excellent sterilization method. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for your instruments.
