WPI’s EVOM™ is considered as the gold standard for TEER measurement using Manual and Automated EVOM™ to monitor endothelial and epithelial barriers. WPI’s EVOM Electrode Test Solution Kit is to be used to verify the EVOM™ systems including electrodes and measurement electronics or meters are working as per WPI’s specifications. This kit contains varying concentrations of ionic solutions. With decreased ionic concentrations, solution conductivity decreases and electrical resistance increases. This test solution kit works on this basic principle to verify proper EVOM™ system function.

The kit can be used to verify proper functionality of EVOM™ Manual and EVOM™ Auto systems including electrodes. The kit can be used to test EVOM™ Manual electrodes such as, STX4, ENDOHM Chambers, STX HTS electrodes and EVOM™ Auto electrode arrays for 96 HTS and C24 and M24/O24 HTS well plates. 

Application

Use the solution kit to verify the resistance values for a specific electrode are within the acceptable range. Measure resistance values at different concentrations. Electrical resistance values should decrease with increasing ionic concentrations. Plot ionic concentration vs resistance as a scatter plot. Fit a trend line as power fit. R² value greater than or equal to 0.98 indicates normal functionality. 

EVM-AC-03-05 Application

This kit helps to confirm whether EVOM™ instrument/system is performing as per WPI’s specifications or the EVOM™ electrodes need cleaning, maintenance or replacement.

Use this kit to verify EVOM™ instrument function daily or weekly or periodically or as needed. WPI recommends performing instrument reading verification at least once a week when used regularly.

Erratic TEER readings collected with known samples would require EVOM™ system to undergo the verification testing using this kit.

Additional Details

  • Solutions should be discarded after use. 
  • Solutions of the kit are tested and verified by WPI using an EVOM™ Manual and a STX4 electrode. Certificate of Test Solution Analysis/Verification is provided with the kit.  
  • Individual concentration bottles are not sold. It is offered as a kit only.
